Joseph Michael Schenck (/ˈskɛŋk/; December 25, 1876 – October 22, 1961) was a Russian-born American film studio executive. Schenck was born to a Jewish family in Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia.
In three years, Joseph, along with the former Warner Bros studio executive Darryl Zanuck, founded an independent producer company 20th Century Pictures.

Talmadge married millionaire film producer Joseph M. Schenck and they successfully created their own production company. After reaching fame in the film studios on the East Coast, she moved to Hollywood in 1922. Talmadge was one of the most elegant and glamorous film stars of the Roaring '20s.
Schenck was forced to resign in 1941 when he was indicted for income tax irregularities, but returned to the fold as an executive producer after four months in jail. In 1953 he formed the Magna Corporation with Michael Todd, inventor of the Todd-AO widescreen process.
