Normally this is not my type of movie. But I really enjoyed this modern retelling of the Cinderella story when I watched it with my wife. It's quite moving with some strong acting by the actors playing the three main teenage characters: Indy, Bryant, and Max.

Well, 'Not Cinderella's Type' is completely different from the fluff fest. The movie shows how a girl who has suffered years of emotional abuse would ACTUALLY be like. Then there are steps to remove her from the abusive household into safety.
Not Cinderella’s Type is a modern take on the traditional Cinderella story by author Jenni James. By putting a contemporary twist on the elements of the story, framing it in the context of high school life, and articulating modern views on what a family should be, it presents some positive messages to young viewers.
