  8. Like the Civil Patrol of the 50s, the railfan community could be a great asset to the railroads. I wouldn't mind registering. I have, in the past, reported problems to the railroads. Thing like cars on fire, dropped couplers, sliding axles (although it did take UP's system 2 hours to notify the train!), transients breaking into cars, etc.
