Still, The Brute does manage to be a good story about man's vulnerability to the opposite sex, with a protagonist who is as endearing as he is tragic.

It also happens to be a well-crafted movie, with an excellent cast.

It's a decent enough watch but you can just tell they want to convey a sense of concern about battered women while also manipulating the audience with sex and nudity, attempted torture, and thriller elements.
