Nanterre (/ n ɒ̃ ˈ t ɛər /, French: ⓘ) is the prefecture of the Hauts-de-Seine department in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It is located some 11 km (6.8 mi) northwest of the centre of Paris. In 2018, the commune had a population of 96,807.

- Grande Arche. An avant-garde symbol for La Défense, the Grande Arche was built during the 80s when this district was really coming together. It was a collaboration between two Danes, engineer Erike Reitzel and Johann Otto von Spreckelsen, who won the design competition ordered by François Mitterrand.
