Originally, CKOC's station was based in the Lower City at the corner of King William and John Streets, and was an offshoot of the Wentworth Radio and Supply Company. In the spring of 1922, the station became the third radio station in all of Canada.

May 30, 2015 · Back in 1960, CKOC, Canada’s oldest continuously operating radio station, made the bold decision to switch from comedy and drama to a Top-40 music format. It never turned its back on music until Thursday, when parent company Bell Media made the announcement that CKOC was going all-sports.
In the early going, CKOC was on the air daily from noon to 1:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Programming consisted of news, community events, pre-recorded music and a weekly church broadcast. Later in the year, Billy Stewart and his Melody Boys entertained listeners between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Aug 10, 2023 · Hamiltonians would get their first taste of commercial radio in 1922 with the opening of CKOC AM (1150 AM). CKOC hit the airwaves on May 1, 1922, founded by Wentworth Radio and Auto Supply owners Herb Slack and George Crawford as a way to help grow their own transistor radio sales.
