Jan 10, 2022 · The Greater Cleveland Aquarium is found on the west bank of The Flats, in the historic FirstEnergy Powerhouse building (which dates back to 1892!) overlooking the Cuyahoga River. The aquarium covers 70,000 square feet, and is actually a relatively new addition to the city, having opened in 2012.
The Greater Cleveland Aquarium features 5,000 creatures, including everything from Great Lake perch (which you can also find at fish fries all around town) to more exotic lionfish, sea anemones, crustaceans and sea horses.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium is open for general visitation Monday – Sunday from 10am – 5pm with very few exceptions. (Thanksgiving & Christmas we are closed to the public and we are only open 10am – 2pm on Christmas Eve.) Occasionally we even extend our hours or offer evening events.
