Mar 24, 2020 · The film premiered at the Hamburg Film Festival in September 2018 and has had a very limited run around the world, playing mostly at Jewish film festivals. While the story involves a friendship between the central character and Sigmund Freud, I wouldn’t say that this is a Jewish film.
“The Tobacconist”, released as “Der Traffikant” in Austria, wouldn’t be an especially noteworthy film if it didn’t feature one of the final performances of the late Bruno Ganz, who expertly sent shivers down everyone’s spines as a raving, despondent Hitler coming apart at the seams during the final days of the war he so eagerly ...
