So, I recently purchased a BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle (usb version) for my MacBook Pro and I have a couple of old VHS tapes laying around and wanted to capture the footage from them. But, when I try to capture from the VHS Player, the footage glitches, jumping from black to video frames.
May 17, 2021 · On the camera enabled A/V to DV and on the Mac in QuickTime Player selected the camera as the A/V source. As far as video capture goes from my tests this has yielded the best quality video capture out of everything I have tried. I do not get any issues with frame rate, field order and the video appears to be de-interlaced well.

If the VHS recording is too unstable, it'll cause glitches and mutes on the new file. I find 720x480 422 works fine as a capture format.
Studio has deinterlacing in Clip Attributes, if you need/want that, and there's Automatic Dirt Removal (for tape hits), Deband, Deflicker, and Noise Reduction - all under the ResolveFX Revival plugin set. The Sharpening tools are all Studio-only. Normally there's a whole department dedicated to upscaling, "DRS," and cleanup.

I digitize VHS tapes. I use Golden Videos(NCH) to convert them from the VHS player to digital. They are converted in the MP3 format. Feb 12, 2020 · The model number isn't to hand at the moment for the VCR, it's a modern panasonic VCR. VCR > DVD Rec > TV didn't gain a signal, this is what I tried but I was experimenting whilst being new to testing this method: Scart cables connecting VHS out > DVD Rec > HDMI out from the DVD Rec > black magic Shuttle.
