Goose Creek State Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife that make their homes in the extensive salt water marshes, inlets and creeks on the northern side of the sound. Goose Creek State Park is open for year-round recreation, east of Washington, two miles (3 km) south of U.S. Route 264 on Camp Leach Road.
You will see huge loblolly pine trees, huge waterfront live oaks, palmettos, and get to explore a unique swamp. There is a long boardwalk through the swamp and it is absolutely beautiful and full of life. We saw 8 snakes while on our trip, and it was exciting to see them in the wild.

The park is traversed by nine hiking trails stretching over 8 miles in total, including half a mile of boardwalk across a murky swamp.

There is plenty to do in Goose Creek State Park! From fantastic hiking trails to amazing views of Goose Creek and the Pamlico River, this park has it all. There is a very nice boat ramp and bank access for fishing with two small fishing docks as well.
