Reilly voiced a sheep in the ensemble cast of the animated musical comedy Sing, which was released in December 2016. Reilly appeared in the 2017 monster film reboot Kong: Skull Island, as Hank Marlow, a World War II lieutenant who has spent 28 years stranded on the titular island.
Reilly currently performs with his band, John C. Reilly and Friends, and worked as a stage actor in True West (2000), for which he was nominated a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. He provides the voice of Eddie in the North American release of Sing.
