  6. The school for African-Americans in Kentwood was recognized as a state approved high school by 1930. During the 1930's four or five teachers taught at the school. By 1930 there had been twenty-one graduates, and all of those were in the high school's teacher training program. By 1930 there were 102 students at the school.
