Chmielnik [ˈxmʲɛlɲik] is a town in Kielce County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Poland. As of December 2021, it has a population of 3,557, and lies in historic Lesser Poland. The name of the town is derived from hop (Polish: chmiel).

CHMIELNIK, small town in southeast Poland. In the 17 th century Chmielnik was a center of the anti-Trinitarians, who were expelled from the town after 1661; some think that remnants of their influence in Chmielnik and the vicinity led to a better attitude toward Jews among the local population to the end of the 18 th century.
A Chmielnik Jewish secondary school became famous and was attended by Jewish students from all over Poland, who came there to study Talmud. At the same time, Jewish institutions in the town initiated by Izrael Gutman, the chairman of the Jewish community in 1840-1870, developed.
