    • Hang some lights. Make your bulletin boards sparkle all school year with Christmas lights! String the lights around the board in place of a traditional border or layer them on top of your already existing borders.
    • Layer your bulletin board borders. Instead of just one bulletin board border, why not two or three? Choose a color scheme or classroom theme and then start playing around with different combinations and looks.
    • Use accents. Don’t stop with fancy bulletin board borders! Add some interesting and eye-pleasing accents to make your bulletin boards really pop. Tassels make great additions!
    • Use blow up letters. Another great find in the party aisle are blow-up mylar balloon letters and numbers. Spell out words or put your name in balloons on a back-to-school bulletin board with information about yourself.

    • Make your bulletin board letters straight using painter’s tape. There is nothing more frustrating than having to redo your letters because they are off-center or not straight.
    • Use a black Sharpie to color the staples to make them less visible. If you are using black letters, you can color the staples with a black Sharpie to “hide” them.
    • Stick with thick, bold fonts! Thicker fonts will be easier to cut by hand or when using a cutting machine. Learn more about the best fonts for bulletin board letters and access a step-by-step tutorial for cutting letters on a Cricut.
    • Use Fabric on Your Bulletin Board. First up, your base. It’s all about that base! I’m not sure where I picked up this hack… but, it is a total GAME.CHANGER.
    • Double the Border. Double, or even triple, your border. If Melanie from SchoolGirl Style has taught us anything about bulletin board style, it is to layer your bulletin board border.
    • Never (EVER!) Cut Your Border…EVER! Serious here, folks! Listen to me – don’t cut your borders! If you like to change borders more than once a year, or you plan to use those border pieces for more than one board, don’t trim your pieces!
    • Layer Over Top. This next hack is for the *slightly* lazy teacher… like me *cough*… Ok… maybe lazy isn’t the right word for this time-saving hack.
  4. Teachers utilize bulletin board space to hang academic materials, learning resources for students, or notices and calendars to keep parents updated about what’s happening in the classroom. Interactive bulletin boards can be used for so much more!
