May 7, 2024 · There is much poverty and pollution in Kolkata. Among the cities I visited in India, Kolkata was the dirtiest with the most visible poverty. Homeless people were everywhere, even along the street of my hotel which is a popular tourist area. I’m from the Philippines which is also a poor country, but I’ve never seen urban poverty to this level.
