  1. May 10, 2023 · Bob Cousy is quite down my top 100, maybe not even in it if I did a recount. If using Cousy's 63 ranking as a medium of sorts, he's still closer to guys out of the top 100, even if those guys are like 130, 140, 150 etc as the tiers start to have more players in them the lower down the rankings you go.

  2. No real post moves, post defense was mediocre, most bigs couldn't stretch the floor at all. A guy like Bob Cousy was a NBA Champion and an MVP, he wouldn't even come close to making an NBA team. A guy like Elgin Baylor, who averaged 27 and 13 for his career, probably wouldn't make an NBA team either.

  3. The Celtics pre-Russell finished 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, and 2nd in a 4 team division despite Cousy and fellow HOF players Bill Sharman (who was more efficient than Cousy and a better defender -- think Dumars to Cousy's Isiah) and Ed McCauley (also more efficient and a good inside scorer).

  5. Mar 23, 2024 · RB34 wrote:Bob Cousy walked so Tyus Jones could run. By that logic the caveman who invented the wheel is just as knowledegable about engineering as a modern physicist. Warspite wrote: Billups was a horrible scorer who could only score with an open corner 3 or a FT.

  6. Nov 2, 2016 · Both were a quicker, faster than Cousy. Rodgers was a very good ballhandler/passer, But the problem with Rodgers was that, like Cousy, he shot too much. He was a poor shooter who one season as a pg averaged almost 20 shots a game while shooting about 37% from the floor.

  7. Apr 16, 2024 · Where would peak Bob Cousy rank today as a playmaker? Post #1 » by rk2023 » Sat Apr 13, 2024 7:31 pm Of course everyone remembers Cooz being a generational playmaker in era relative terms, and some of his passing chops really stand out in terms of delivery, manipulation : creativity, and putting his teammates in the right position.

  8. Aug 3, 2024 · 4. Bob Cousy 5. Neil Johnston In reverse order: Johnston was the 1b on the second-best team in the regular season, and that 1a was an injured non-entity in the postseason. Cousy discussed at length throughout the thread and will likely not be reappearing on my ballot after this year but did enough to earn placement this year.

  9. Post #3 » by Minge » Sun Dec 13, 2009 1:17 am. Cousy would be no worse than Rondo in today's NBA. He had long fingers, that enabled him to experiment with his handle. With modern advances in training, he could probably have a long career, like Stockton (40 year-old).

  10. Aug 4, 2024 · 1. Bob Cousy 2. Bob Pettit 3. Neil Johnston I feel strongly the Celtics were actually a good offense this year, and Cousy had some incredible passing and ball-stealing games in the playoffs. Pettit was a close 2nd, and Neil Johnston gets in over Arizin due to availability in the playoffs. DPOY 1. Bill Russell 2. Maurice Stokes 3. Tom Heinsohn
