Pros: Big huge hot and prepared foods section (half the store) Cons: Expensive. Also there is only one kind of each product, like canned beans for example. So you cannot compare prices; either buy this can of beans or not. I like to have at least a couple options for each item.

May 29, 2021 · Farm boy, which I have also only been to a handful of times, on the other hand, feels premium and up market. I believe Farm boy also has more good quality prepared foods, but I’m not 100% sure on that. I think they were just bought by Empire group, which owns Sobeys. I hope It pulls Sobey’s up market, rather than drag Farm boy down market.

It's a bit pricy but it is from their line of "indulgence" meals which are meant to be a bit nicier/fancier and also typically run about $80. Most turkey for two I've seen at other places would be $40-50 but no soup/salad or dessert. 59.
Feb 19, 2022 · I like Farm Boy. It's a slightly upscale grocery store where you get niche items. It's smaller than a typical grocery store, and won't meet all of your grocery store needs. It gets compared to Trader Joe's because of the private label specialty items, but in my opinion it could equally be called a Canadian Whole Foods.

Farm Boy brand Large Eggs: $2.99ish, seem to last longer than the generic brand I get from other stores. Farm Boy brand popcorn: White Cheddar and Jalapeno is chef kiss. Skip the butter kind. Farm Boy brand kettle cooked potato chips: 2 for $5, I've tried most flavours. Dill, Ketchup and BBQ are my favs.
In general I like their frozen meal stuff in comparison to other brands. You just need to rate it on a frozen meal scale lol. Magnisauce is like Big Mac sauce, might be limited edition though. Staples for me: The orange cream sparkling water, lemon garlic dressing, spicy kale edamame dip, pink salt popcorn.
Farm Boy — no question. Farm Boy is better. FB at Trainyards is like no other store. it’s huge and lots of selection. you need to visit at least once. Definitely Farm Boy for every day meat and produce, but I do a trip into Whole Foods every couple of months for a handful of specialty items that I can’t find elsewhere.
