Dec 14, 2023 · Getaround charged me $1,000 for what effectively was a smudge on the side of a rental car. A few weeks after I rented the vehicle, I received notice of a claim related to "damage" on the passengers side. They included pictures of mark on the side of the vehicle (photo attached) and let me know that they were performing an investigation.
Dec 22, 2022 · In general Getaround is scamming owners and renters. I had several cars on their platform. The company is owned by greedy, low-lifes who hire morons at every level of the company. If you are considering being an owner, my advice is to forget it.
Jun 7, 2023 · Smoking, damage, total loss collisions, theft, break-ins, weird stains. Everything you think that can happen to a car happened when it was on these platforms. Turo and Getaround do not offer much assistance. The breaking point was that you have to upgrade your personal insurance since it's now a "business vehicle".
Apr 28, 2022 · Getaround is legit, but I think you might have issues renting a car as a tourist. Car sharing companies often do credit check etc before you are accepted as a customer and I would guess that is difficult in your case. But you should definately try and not take my word for it. 1.

Jun 17, 2022 · Turo has a much better interface and host customization as well. Highly recommend Turo. Getaround is not worth the hassle. They allow renters to rent a car for a couple of hours. That means more cleaning time for you on the interior for the next renter and more lesser quality renters in the car more often.

Jun 17, 2022 · Getaround uses contactless technology so you don't have to actively meet the guests every-time its rented. Turo only offers full day rentals while Getaround offers hourly rentals which from my experience as a host get constantly extended which is extra $$. I've only used Getaround and they have had really good customer support.
Mar 14, 2024 · Getaround is where I got 3 cars stolen (bc key is inside the car, duh!), and they would not help bc it wasn’t on a trip, so theives know this and go car shopping/stealing with the getaround site to get the car’s appx location. Getaround would just say, “contact your insurance company.” DONE and over with getaround.
