Mar 30, 2024 · Garmin Express 7.20.3.0 new install on Windows 11 Pro 23H2 causes windows to prompt the user to install .Net Framework v3.5 This prompt seems to be coming from Windows itself as it says something like 'A program you are installing needs .Net Framework v3.5, install it ?' rather than a prompt directly from the Garmin Installer.
I have two laptops, one is an older Win 10 machine, and I have a new Win 11 machine. The Win 10 machine works fine with Garmin Express. Garmin Express will not launch on the new Win 11 machine. Everything else works fine on the new Win 11 machine. GE downloads and installs fine. When I try try to launch GE nothing happens.

I have Garmin WebUpdater, MapInstall, Garmin Express and Basecamp installed on my Windows 10 computer. I forget what WebUpdater & MapInstall do, and I haven't use them in a very long time. As suggested by Krzemien, I checked some of the logs found here C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Logs\Express. There is lots of data contained in the files.
Yes, your Varia Rearview Radar should show up in Garmin Express when it's connected to your computer. Try quitting Garmin Express completely first, re-launching the program, then re-connecting your Radar device. I start with uninstalling Garmin Express using this tool - Windows's Program and Features still show it as installed afterwards, but nevermind - and continue with installing GE from the latest installation file. Hope it helps. It is still huge PITA to have to undergo this every single time you want to update, but at least it works.
This will not prevent future versions of Garmin Express from being downloaded. However, any bugs or other issues specific to these OSes will not be resolved. 7.18.3 will be available to download at any time under the System Requirements.
I can access Garmin Connect just fine, make nav maps and instruct Connect to send files to my Edge 820. I then connect the Edge to my PC via USB, open Garmin Express and note that the 820 is "connected" to Express. Then instruct Express to sync, which it acknowledges and indicates that the Edge has "Recently synced" and that "you're up to date!"
Garmin Express will recognize your device. (5) Install all or navigate to the software you would like to install and click on the blue button. Hopefully at some point Microsoft and Garmin will get on the same page and fix this problem. Not everyone keeps old computers lying around and the newest version of Express does not fix this incompatibility.
DATA BACKUP: It is wise to backup the whole /GARMIN directory of your watch before doing anything else, as some of the files (maps for example) will not be restored from the FW file or by Garmin Express if they get corrupted or erased! Switch off(if hanged): hold LIGHT button for at least 25 seconds
