2 days ago · If you aren’t offended by anything in this John Waters trashterpiece, you may not be offendable: It’s made to push buttons. The film stars Divine as a criminal going by Babs Johnson, who is proudly “the filthiest person alive.” The film’s tagline is “an exercise in poor taste.” How poor? We can’t even describe it here.
The souvenirs on sale at the DMZ in South Korea were interesting. Keyrings and pens with machine guns, hand guns, bullets and grenades. T-shirts, mugs and figurines with cutesy cartoons of south and north Korean border guards. Bags of "DMZ rice" grown in the zone with barbed wire imagery on the packaging. Reply reply.
4 days ago · I was reluctant to begin this book because of its subtitle — long-winded, pretentious and heralding something too personal for my taste or the usual fare of UNM Press. But since there had been no mention of the book a year after its publication in the town that is its namesake, despite a laudatory review in the Albuquerque Journal and a brief mention in the Santa Fe New Mexican, I pressed on.
