Utah ESPN+ Preview Connor Mackey (born September 12, 1996) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Mackey became highly coveted as an undrafted free agent after playing three years of college ice hockey for Minnesota State University, ultimately signing with the Calgary Flames in March 2020.

Mackey hails from Tower Lakes, Ill., and attended Barrington High School which is about an hour outside of Chicago. His father, David Mackey, played 126 games in the NHL for the Blackhawks, Blues and Minnesota North Stars. MORE: Flames reverse decision to not pay arena workers
After captaining his high school team, Mackey played two seasons with the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers before starting his NCAA career at Minnesota State University in 2017. He's been playing collegiately since then.
The blueliner has been widely regarded for his contributions offensively, especially on the power play. In his second season in Green Bay, Mackey tallied 47 points in just 60 games — 34 of those with the man advantage.
