The Shouting Stage is the 11th studio album by the British singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading, released on 29 June 1988 by A&M Records. It was written, arranged and produced entirely by Armatrading herself, and recorded at her home studio (Bumpkin), with mixing done at Olympic Studios, London.

The Shouting Stage is in many ways where you would expect Joan Armatrading to be at this stage in her career: mining familiar melodies with richer results.

Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits played guitar on this track. Other musicians on the track were Pino Palladino on bass, Dave Mattacks on drums, and Jody Linscott on percussion. Armatrading wrote, produced and arranged all the tracks on the album.
