Spaceballs is a science-fiction parody film directed by Mel Brooks, and written by Brooks, Thomas Meeham, and Ronny Graham, the novelization of the movie was written by R.L. Stine. It premiered at cinemas in the USA on 26 June 1987.
When the nefarious Dark Helmet hatches a plan to snatch Princess Vespa and steal her planet's air, space-bum-for-hire Lone Starr and his clueless sidekick fly to the rescue. Along the way, they meet Yogurt, who puts Lone Starr wise to the power of "The Schwartz."
Lone Starr and Barf, in their Winnebago space ship (Eagle 5), reach Vespa before Spaceball One, rescue her and Dot, and escape into hyperspace. Running out of fuel, they crash on the nearby desert "Moon of Vega", and find their way to a cave occupied by the wise old Yogurt (Brooks).
