Ronald Shusett (born June 1935) is an American screenwriter and film producer, best known for his works in the science fiction genre. He wrote the original story for Alien (1979) with Dan O'Bannon and later Alien vs. Predator (2004).

May 12, 2017 · Like so many sci-fi scripts, Alien began as a short story, co-written by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett in the mid-1970s. The two men were young sci-fi enthusiasts of the kind who did so much to create the entire sci-fi movie genre, with George Lucas, of course, being the archetype.

Ronald Shusett (born June 28, 1935) is an American film writer and producer who co-wrote the 1979 film Alien with Dan O'Bannon and the 2004 film Alien vs. Predator with Dan O'Bannon and Paul W. S. Anderson. He also served as executive producer on Alien.
In 1974, he was the first to option the short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale", which eventually became the film Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Shusett is sometimes credited as Thilo T. Newman.
