    Gerard Prendergast (born 24 February 1954; age 70) is an actor who played Bjorn Bensen in the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Home Soil".

    Prendergast had previously appeared on T. J. Hooker, starring William Shatner, James Darren, and Richard Herd. He was also seen in a 1982 episode of Trapper John, M.D. along with Robin Gammell, Salome Jens, and series regular Madge Sinclair. His other TV credits include Houston Knights (starring Madlyn Rhue), Matlock (with Jason Wingreen), and Simon & Simon (with Olivia d'Abo and Tina Lifford) as well as the 1981 TV movie Thin Ice with Daniel Hugh Kelly and Dwight Schultz. He was also a regular on the short-lived soap opera Generations, along with Paul Carr, Bruce Gray, Marnie McPhail, France Nuyen, and Joan Pringle.
