Sukanya is an Indian actress who mainly worked in Tamil films and Malayalam films, in addition to Kannada and Telugu films. Apart from acting Sukanya is a trained Bharanatyam dancer, music composer, lyricist and voice actress. She was one of the leading Tamil actresses in the 1990s.
She started her acting career in 1991. She is the younger cousin of Tamil actress Jaishree. She has appeared in many South Indian movies like ‘Chinna Gounder’, ‘Aadhityan’, ‘Udayon’, ‘My Life Partner’, ‘Samba’, etc. She has occasionally appeared in the Kannada movies: ‘Guru Brahma’ and ‘Chandra’.
