May 23, 2022 · Johns Hopkins computational biologist Michael Schatz is among the 100 most influential people in the world for his role in the first complete sequencing of the human genome. He leads a team that developed a cloud-based platform for genomic data analysis and visualization.
The core strength of our research is in developing novel algorithms and computational systems for large-scale biological sequence analysis, including leading algorithms for de novo genome assembly, variant detection, and related –omics assays.
