Sekka is widely known among science fiction fans for his role as Dr. Benjamin Kyle in the television series Babylon 5's pilot movie, The Gathering (1993). Recurring health problems forced him to decline a future role in the series, and ultimately were the reason he retired from acting altogether.
Johnny Sekka was a Senegalese-born actor who appeared in The Message, Babylon 5 and The Avengers. He died in 2006 in California after a long career in theater and TV.

While many fans fell in love with the actor's on-screen roles, they were unaware of the actor's tough childhood and tremendous sacrifices to succeed.
