Personal life. Mercer was married to Maitland Paisley early in her life. Her only other marriage was to actor Holmes Herbert in the late 1920s. She had one child, Joan Mercer, later Bitting, born on 16 September 1917.
He appeared in several horror films like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), The Invisible Man (1933), and Tower of London (1939). In the 1940s, he appeared in several Sherlock Holmes films, the first being The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939). His last appearance was on The Brigand (1952).
