Up Pompeii is a 1971 British sex comedy film directed by Bob Kellett and starring Frankie Howerd and Michael Hordern. It was written by Sid Colin based on an idea by Talbot Rothwell. It is based on characters that first appeared in the British television sitcom Up Pompeii! (1969–1975).
Up Pompeii!: With Frankie Howerd, Elizabeth Larner, Kerry Gardner, Jeanne Mockford. Lurcio is a much-put-upon slave in the ancient Roman town of Pompeii. More often than not, Lurcio finds himself keeping his owner's family members apart, in order to keep them together.

A movie version of a once popular TV series (which I never saw), UP POMPEII is a bawdy spoof of the Roman costume drama. Howerd plays Lurcio, a slave who finds himself being chased by various ne'er do wells after a mix up involving a cucumber and a scroll (no, I'm not making this up).
A mysterious scroll falls into his hands, listing the names of all the conspirators plotting to murder Emperor Nero. And when the upstart slave is elected to infiltrate the ringleader's den, the comical ups-and-downs lead to total uproar. Bob Kellett. Director. Sid Colin.
Roman slave Lurkio inadvertently becomes the possessor of a scroll naming the proposed assassins of the Emperor Nero. Administering to the participants of his master's orgy guests seems small compared to the trouble the scroll brings - but all are in for a nasty shock when Mount Vesuvius decides...
