Our hero Fred, Jimmy Hanley, is a reformed safe cracker who has stayed straight for two years working at the Radio Cab company. He even has a girlfriend who just happens to be one of the dispatchers. From his cab, he witnesses a robbery and follows the car until his front tire is shot out.
