It is a remake of the 2008 French film Pour elle (Anything for Her) by Fred Cavayé and Guillaume Lemans.

In Pittsburgh, the family man and community college teacher John Brennan has his life turned upside down when his beloved wife Lara Brennan is arrested, accused for murdering her boss, and sent to the Allegheny County Jail.
At the movie's end, when John successfully escapes his family to Venezuela, his father pulls out a World Atlas and smiles when he opens the page on South America.
