Plot. Ray Macklin is obsessed with his own mortality. When a close friend suddenly dies of a heart attack at a barbecue, Ray becomes convinced that every ache, pain and twinge he experiences is a sign of his own impending death.
When his best friend dies of a heart attack, Ray Macklin becomes a man obsessed with his own mortality. Convinced that all his aches and pains are an indication of his imminent death, Ray's life turns into a slapstick farce of health-crazed anxiety and hypochondria.
When his best friend drops dead in the middle of telling this groaner, it brings about an existential fear of death for successful airline executive and family man Ray Macklin (Jeff Daniels), who soon becomes convinced that every ache and pain he experiences brings him one step closer to the grave.
