Allure is a 2017 Canadian thriller film written and directed by Carlos and Jason Sanchez in their feature film debut. It stars Evan Rachel Wood, Julia Sarah Stone, and Denis O'Hare. It originally premiered under the title A Worthy Companion at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
Allure is the story of an abusive relationship (or of two, actually). For as we watch Laura manipulating, gaslighting and emotionally blackmailing her confused and sexually inexperienced young ward, it is clear that this is a replay of Laura's own traumatic loss of innocence.
A house cleaner meets a teenaged girl and convinces her to run away and live with her in secret. Plagued by the abuse of her past and the turmoil of failed intimate encounters, Laura struggles to find a lover and a sense of normalcy.
