Born in Germany, Diana Damrau studied at the Musikhochschule in Würzburg and with Hannah Ludwig in Salzburg. She was Operawelt’s Young Singer of the Year in 1999 and has since appeared at many leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, the State Operas of Munich, Berlin, Zurich and Vienna, La Scala Milan and in Dresden.
