On October 31, 2017, Grandpa was taken to the hospital once again for a flare up of his cirrhosis, resulting in a build up of ammonia in his bloodstream. Jennifer called Michael to inform him that, as Charles' power of attorney, he needed to come to the hospital. Grandpa had a friendly relationship with his youngest son Michael. Michael claimed that when he was younger, the two were inseparable. Some disdain between the two occurred when Michael began filming Charles raging, but he eventually joined in, even participating in pranks against Michael and Bridgette.
