Feb 13, 2012 · Mount Saint Vincent University, HALIFAX, was founded in 1873 by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul as a women's academy. The original purpose of the Academy was to train novices and Sisters as teachers, but the Sisters quickly recognized the need to provide opportunities in post-secondary education for other women as well.
The university offers a wide range of respected undergraduate and graduate programs in Arts, Science, Education and Professional Studies. MSVU has been a leader in distance learning for the past 40 years and today offers 200 courses, 11 complete undergraduate programs and four complete graduate programs entirely online.
