Jan Brueghel (also Bruegel or Breughel) the Elder ( / ˈbrɔɪɡəl /, [1] [2] also US: / ˈbruːɡəl /; [3] [4] Dutch: [ˈjɑn ˈbrøːɣəl] ⓘ; 1568 – 13 January 1625) was a Flemish painter and draughtsman. He was the son of the eminent Flemish Renaissance painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
Jan Bruegel the Elder was a Flemish painter known for his still lifes of flowers and for his landscapes. The second son of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, born just before his father’s death, he was reared by a grandmother and learned his art in Antwerp.
