SCARLET THREAD feels unpredictable from beginning to end and has sudden bursts of tense action mixed with growing suspense so that you never quite know what's going to transpire next. The second thing of note is that the cast is very good for a film of this budget.
Popular reviews. Laurence Harvey is absolutely appalling in this, and the usually reliable Kathleen Byron is left to run riot in the tale of a robbery gone wrong. The only decent performances come from an icy Sydney Tafler and a blousy Dora Bryan.
