Cryptids are mainly plants, animals, and other eukaryotes not recognized by the scientific community or thought to be extinct but some believe they are still alive today. Cryptids are creatures whose existence is based on alleged sightings with varying degrees of supporting evidence.

Cryptozoology is a pseudoscience that studies and searches for animals or other creatures whose existence is unrecognized or disputed by science. Although it's unlikely that many cryptids exist, there is a possibility that some do. In fact, Hogzilla and the Congo Elephants, two cryptids believed to be hoaxes, were proven real by National Geographic. Cryptobotany, the study of plants that are legendary, folkloric, or whose existence has not been confirmed, is a subfield of cryptozoology. Cryptids on this list have multiple sources, sightings, and available information.
Every animal or plant on this page is marked as one of the following:
Unconfirmed - Cryptids whose existence is postulated but not demonstrated.
Discredited; (explanation) - Cryptids that have a body of evidence against their existence.
Proposed; (animal name) - Cryptids with an alternative explanation accepted by the scientific community.
Extinct - Animals that are thought to be extinct but which cryptozoologists think may still exist as relict populations.
There are numerous types of cryptids, including Hairy Humanoids, Giant Bats, Dinosaurs and Pterosaurs, Dragons and Dragonoids, Carnivores, Giants, Avians and more.
The Hairy Humanoids category consists of bipedal human-like cryptids that are covered in hair. A prominent example is Bigfoot.
The Giant Bats category contains large bat-like cryptids, possibly mistaken for pterosaurs.
The Dinosaurs and Pterosaurs category contains dinosaurs or dinosaur-like creatures that some cryptozoologists believe may still be alive based on reports.
The Dragons and Dragonoids category includes cryptids with reptilian or draconian characteristics, such as scales, claws, bat-like wings, and horns. A cryptid does not necessarily have to possess all of these features to be categorized as a dragon or dragonoid.
The Avians are creatures that have some relation to birds. All avians have feathers, and many have beaks, talons, and lay eggs. Some avian cryptids are humanoid, such as the Owlman or Harpies, whereas some are just birds, like the Dodo or the Washington Eagle.
Witnesses describe the White Bluff Screamer as a ghostly, pale figure that resembles a spectral woman or a large, white-furred animal. The creature is said to be around 7 feet tall with long, flowing hair or fur, and eyes that glow with an otherworldly light.
