David Nicholas Yip (Chinese: 葉西園; pinyin: Yè Xīyuán; born 4 June 1951) is a British actor and playwright. He gained prominence through his role in the BBC series The Chinese Detective (1981–1982) as the first East Asian lead on British television.
David Yip is a British actor of Chinese descent, known for his roles in A View to a Kill, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Entrapment. He also directed and wrote Chinese Whispers, a short film about a Chinese seaman in Liverpool.
