Pole, John de la, 2nd duke of Suffolk (1442–92). Pole was originally married to his father's ward Margaret Beaufort, daughter and heir of John, duke of Somerset (d. 1444). The marriage was annulled and he married Richard of York's daughter Elizabeth.
JOHN DE LA POLE, second Duke of Suffolk (1442-1491), born on 27 Sept. 1442, was only son of William de la Pole, first duke of Suffolk (d. 1450). On 27 Nov. 1440 he was made joint constable of Wallingford and high steward of the honour of St. Valery, offices to which he was reappointed in 1461.
