Mark of the Renegade is a 1951 American Adventure Western film directed by Hugo Fregonese starring Ricardo Montalbán and Cyd Charisse. The film is based on the novel Don Renegade by Johnston McCulley , and is set in Mexican-ruled Los Angeles in the 1820s.
Mark of the Renegade: Directed by Hugo Fregonese. With Ricardo Montalban, Cyd Charisse, J. Carrol Naish, Gilbert Roland. Set in 19th century California Marcos Zappa goes undercover as a pirate to expose the crooked Don Pedro Garcia.
Garcia gives Marcos a deadline by which he must become engaged to Manuella or be exposed as a renegade. Garcia also orders Bardoso to bring his pirates to attack Los Angeles, so that he, Garcia, can appear to save the population and enhance his plan to dominate the state.
Gilbert Roland wants to break California off from Mexico and rule as emperor, so he blackmails branded renegade Ricardo Montalban to make love to Cyd Charisse, kill her fiance, and take off his shirt a lot in this potboiler from Universal.
