Music is the voice of The Putney School. At the heart of this is music making in all idioms and genres, from playing guitar around the campfire to performing in the community orchestra; from participating in the weekly All-School Sing to composing electronic music to producing an album.
Students will explore improvisatory forms of music in a variety of styles within the jazz idiom including swing, blues, funk and latin forms. Musical communication, development of technical skills, and creating group arrangements will be emphasized.
We have chosen Community Music Schools of Toronto as an umbrella name that connects all our programs and still celebrates our history in Regent Park and Jane Finch, and our future in even more communities. The name change also coincides with an important milestone.
