Dark Victory is the finale and 24th episode of Season 2 of Frasier.

DARK NIGHT OF SOULS – Not even Frasier's birthday party for Martin can lighten the mood for the bickering guests. And especially not after there's a blackout.

    Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane

    Jane Leeves as Daphne Moon

David Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane

    Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle

and John Mahoney as Martin Crane

    Co-Starring Josh Adell as Curtis

•This episode marks Martin's 62nd birthday. This means Martin was 20 years old when Frasier was born.

•This is the first season finale to do "Thanks for Calling" during the end credits. This would go on to be used in seasons 3, 4, 6, 9, 10 and 11. The only exceptions are the season 1 finale (which had the waitress again fixing Frasier's coffee), season 7 (which ended with a major cliffhanger of Daphne and Niles fleeing her wedding. In syndication, the credits for the season finale run over a shot of Frasier's empty apartment), and season 5 (which also ended with a cliffhanger but famously presents "Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs" in Spanish and a salsa style while Frasier cleans out his office at the station. This is the only time that the theme has not been sung by Kelsey Grammer.)

    CONTINUITY

•At one point, Martin comments "it was sure great last year when you forgot my birthday".

  2. Frasier: Dark Victory. Simply one of my most favorite parts in one of my most favorite shows, hands down! Wonderful acting and terrifically moving. Frasier: Season 2, Episode 24 ...more.

  3. Frasier feels for her and invites her to join him, Niles and Daphne in celebrating Martin's birthday. But his plans for brightening Roz's spirits dim when the family starts bickering and doesn't stop even as a power outage plunges the party - and Seattle - into darkness.

  4. I've always felt rather alone having Dark Victory in my top 5, really glad to see more appreciation for it. The choice to have three highly unconventional, simplistic, and thoughtful episodes as the first three season finales is testament to the show being a cut above the rest.

  5. Episode Synopsis. Frasier finishes another week of dishing out advice to his callers by telling Caroline she should consider finishing with her psychiatrist as she feels she has gone as far as she can, and is relishing the prospect of a weekend without giving advice on other people's problems.

  6. Scene Two — Frasier's Apartment Frasier comes into the apartment with a cake, parcels and food. Eddie is lying on the couch. Martin and Daphne are nowhere to be seen.
