Episode #1.3. Anna convinces Hal to help her gather natural dyes, even though he knows they won't find enough. Stan wants Peggy to help him convince Lynn to get Anna out of running the business. A rainstorm on the moors reveals Anna's and Hal's mutual attraction.
Apr 8, 1993 · Sister Gabriel (Anna), a nun in a Silent Order, is informed of the tragic death of her brother and has to leave the convent for the first time in 16 years. During that time she has to come to regard her tiny cell as a prison, and at 34 is becoming acutely aware of her own desire to have a child.
Season 1. Anna has been a nun for 16 years when her brother dies, and Mother Superior sends her to help his widow for a week. She finds Lynn despondent and the mill on the verge of failure. Anna returns to the convent but Lynn arranges another visit and tries to convince her to stay.
A nun, played by Kristin Scott Thomas, leaves the convent temporarily to help save her family knitting mill from bankruptcy following the death of her brother. Outside the convent she becomes a fairly shrewd businesswoman and feels attracted to one of the men who work at the mill, and thus begins to feel conflict about her religious vows.
