I “discovered” her as Helena on General Hospital and her talent and screen presence piqued my curiosity to see some of her other work, so I bought DVDs of her Ford and Fuller movies and taped some of her TV guest appearances, like on Perry Mason, Designing Women, and Fraser.

Constance Mary Towers (born May 20, 1933) is an American actress and singer. Towers made her movie debut in the Technicolor picture Bring Your Smile Along (1955). She would later be known for her roles in John Ford's westerns The Horse Soldiers (1959) and Sergeant Rutledge (1960).
Constance Towers has appeared in four daytime dramas on American television: Capitol, Sunset Beach, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless (one episode only). On General Hospital, she took over the role of the villainous Helena Cassadine, which was originated by Elizabeth Taylor in 1981.
She was wonderful and she really wasn’t an actress. So she needed special care during the scenes and he gave her everything she needed.
