Where is Swindon? Swindon is located in the county of Wiltshire, South West England, five miles east of the town of Royal Wootton Bassett, 60 miles east of Cardiff, and 71 miles west of London. Swindon lies four miles south-west of the Oxfordshire border.
- STEAM Museum of the Great Western Railway. The Swindon Works of the Great Western Railway functioned for more than 140 years up to 1986 and at one time was one of the largest railway facilities in the world.
