Jul 15, 2007 · TASCAM's DM-4800 fits seamlessly into the modern recording environment based around a computer DAW. With a single button press, the Remote layer provides a 24-fader control surface for control of premiere workstations such as Pro Tools, Logic, SONAR, DP, Cubase and Nuendo.
The DM-4800 provides a comprehensive range of I/O facilities. For analog input the mixer features 24 balanced inputs; mic pre-amps, balanced line connections, and insert points. Both mic and line connections may be made to the same channel with one-or-the-other able to be selected by a top panel switch.
The TASCAM Mixer Companion (or “TMCompanion”) is software for Microsoft Windows XP or Apple Com-puter’s Mac OS X, allowing the following operations to be carried out on the TASCAM DM-4800 and DM-3200 digital mixing consoles (referred to in this manual as “TASCAM DM”) from the host computer, using a USB connection for 2-way operation:
The DM-4800 provides 24 groups/busses, 12 aux-sends, and 16 assignable inserts (in addition to the channel inserts on rear panel). The mixer incorporates digital effects, including a digital reverb by TC Works. External effects can be looped through the assignable analog sends and returns (then assigned to channels).

May 7, 2022 · If I understand correctly, the insert bypass lets you route certain outputs directly to certain inputs without having them pass through the board, while still allowing you to use those I/O paths as soft inserts to board channels - is that correct?
