From our 5 main hospitals – Guy's Hospital, St Thomas' Hospital, Evelina London Children's Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital, and in the community in Lambeth and Southwark, we provide a full range of lifelong, general and specialist care.
Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals became part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in February 2021. Together with St Thomas’ and Evelina London, this group, north and south of the river, now form the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe.
St Thomas's Hospital had its origins in an Augustinian infirmary, established during the twelfth century and dissolved in 1540. The Hospital was refounded by royal charter in 1551, one of five major endowed royal hospitals established in London in the mid-sixteenth century, which also include Bridewell.
St Thomas' is our largest hospital with 840 beds. It's also home to one of London's busiest maternity services , where over 6,000 babies a year are born, with the support of our specialist obstetric, medical and midwifery care.
